2006年,蘇益良大膽嘗試以“使用北宋工筆畫風為基底,經典的文化元素融合現代攝影手法”來詮釋時尚,開創出當代時尚影像的經典。

故事內容把華人認為極端誇張對孝的信仰,套用在時尚界,發現許多“效忠時尚”所衍生出的奇妙行為,與“愚孝”的故事比較起來,可說是相庭抗禮、不分軒輊。

In 2006, Liang Su boldly reinterpreted fashion inspired by the Northern Song–style “gongbi “ (fine brush) painting technique—melding classical Chinese aesthetics with contemporary photographic expression. This innovative fusion established a new visual language that has since become a landmark in modern fashion imagery.

The project draws upon the ancient Chinese moral tales of “The Twenty-Four Filial Piety,” applying their exaggerated devotion to the realm of fashion. It parallels the absurd acts of filial piety in traditional stories with the equally obsessive rituals of loyalty to fashion seen in modern culture. Both, Su suggests, reveal how devotion—whether to family or to image—can slip into blind worship.

“時尚”本質上是消費主義塑造的一種生活態度。

它不僅關乎穿著打扮,更是一種透過消費來表達身份、歸屬感與自我價值的社會現象。但現代社會中,人們將生活意義與消費行為深度捆綁,把自己陷入時尚的流沙。

“二十四孝”藉由挪用消費文化來反諷現代人的空虛與渴望,並引導我們從“孝”的角度去理解後千禧世代(Post-Millennials)的消費價值觀。

當生活意義與價值感逐漸與“擁有什麼”或“購買什麼”緊密連結,消費不只是滿足基本需求,更成為社會地位、品味、甚至“我值不值得被喜歡”的象徵。過度焦慮.生命倦怠.比較與競爭,讓生命的意義偏向外在認同而非內在成長。

當我們追求品牌與名聲時,我們還剩下多少真正的自己?

At its core, fashion is a lifestyle shaped by consumerism. It extends beyond clothing into a symbolic system of identity, belonging, and self-worth. In today’s society, the meaning of life has become deeply entangled with what we own and what we buy. Consumption no longer fulfills need; it is now a representation of value, status, and desirability.

The Twenty-Four Filial Piety uses the language of consumption to satirize the emptiness and longing of modern life, inviting reflection on how post-millennial values have redefined the concept of devotion. As our sense of worth grows increasingly tied to possessions and public recognition, Su poses a quiet but urgent question:

“When we pursue brands and fame, how much of our true selves remains?
